A Truly Fantastic day at Merehead with plenty to see and do for all the family. From Bus Rides to Quarry tours from Train rides to Driving!
Plenty of Diesel locos were brought down for this spectacular event.

My main focus in this video is the Steam Locomotives working 2,000 Tonne stone Trains!
British Giant, 92203 'Black Prince' is seen double heading, making a spectacular noise with USAs 5197 and it's mind bobbling whistle!
Tysley Based 4936 'Kinlet Hall' also made the trek down and worked a couple of stone trips then onto Passenger trips.
The East Somerset Railway was also in use with 30075 running short trips and Diesel '39' helping with the running around job!

A thoroughly enjoyable day, a HUGE Thankyou goes out to all the staff that put their time and effort into this successful Event.

I will upload a pictorial slideshow when I have the time to make it and decide on music!

  • Great video!

I was there on the Saturday when it rained a ridiculously large amount, and the trains moved a lot slower with a lot more wheelslip from the lack of traction!

  • Thanks!

Oh that certainly is unlucky! I've heard that the saturday was disappointing due to the weather. I wondered whether the speed would be slower, interesting info, Thanks!

  • That just prooves that steam engines may be old but they can still work like they did when they were built.

  • Looked really good, I coulda gone there but had mainline commitments with 71000 but failed later! Still this what you got proved good with good lighting.
