i saw the comet that slammed Jupiter before it was discovered thought it was just an edge on galaxy piter was close to a large area fll of galaxies about a year before discovery i did not have setting circles thought nothing of it oh well i was using my 12 inch f 6 next time il be a litle more observant ... true story

This IS something to get nerdy about. BTW, how can one tell if a comet is Japanese?

I remember comet Hailbop in 1995 or 96. I was living in a tent on a beach in California and was able to stare at it every night for what seemed like weeks! It was a very bright comet. Unforgettable!

im 36 YO, and i remeber seeing the halley comet.

it's looks like a little spot on the night sky. but it was amazing and exciting at the time.
