The CWB is a wheel with the brake disc enclosed centrally between the spokes called the Combined Wheel Brake.

By having the disc fixed directly in the longitudinal axis of the bike, the disc is central in the rim of the wheel meaning all the braking force is through the centre of the wheel.

  • Not a smart idea to convert all braking torque into rotary motion around the axle.

  • reminds me vaguely of the "original" disc brakes for cars.. two sides clamping on a friction disc... we all know what became of those, don't we? xD

  • brake line going through the axle... just more to go wrong, u might pull the brake lever and nothing happens
