The McCormick Foundation spoke with Carol Marin, reporter for WMAQ-TV and political columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, about trends in media. Marin compared society's disenchantment with news to its apathy for politics. Her solution to this problem: engagement.

In the video, Marin talks about multi-platform sharing as a way reporters can reach wider audiences. But she does not say that news engagement is solely the responsibility of journalists. Education systems and students must be involved also.

Marin says she is up to the challenge of preserving quality journalism. She has never and will never fall out of love with reporting.
