The VPW Supafuzz is an exact replica of a particular example of an early Marshall unit, housed in the familiar angular cast Aluminium enclosure. The finish is silver-grey hammer paint, (ie, not powdercoated!)
How does the Supafuzz circuit differ from the MkII Tonebender? The Supafuzz has a 10k resistor at Q1 connected from base to ground, not 100k as in the MkII circuit. This apparently small difference has an enormous effect on the sound of the pedal. Less gain than the MkII, with a response particularly suited to boosting the signal for use with a valve amplifier.
As with all our Germanium Fuzz pedals, the transistors are carefully selected for low noise and optimum hfe (see seperate page in 'Features' section for more information about our transistor selection process).
Many thanks to James Stevenson for lending us the original unit on which this pedal is based.
