  • The Nieurport should have fell when the Albatros first dived. How come the Albatros D.II lost to a Nieurport 11? Creds for nice video though ;)

  • @Supercalle10 Both kites have almost the same sustained climb rate. Alb was too aggressive, it lost its energy advantage at 00:30. Further it continued aggressive maneuvering and too steep climbs, while N11 maneuvered more conservatively trying to keep altitude. With enough energy advantage N11 can handle Alb.

  • @niksarass I think you misunderstood me, I was commenting on the fact of who's got the best chance of winning a dogfight between those two planes, and that although they are somewhat similar in other aspects, the DII has more firepower which might give it an edge. I do understand that under these circumstances it didn't matter how much firepower the DII has because it couldn't take the shot. Thanks anyway, for clearing that out, I'm far from any expert :)

  • @Supercalle10 "You forget that the DII has more firepower"

More firepower? But don't you see that (aside an error at 1:51) the nieuport pilot keeps his energy and altitude to make the shot impossible?

THe alb could have 10 machine guns this duel would have been the exact same

  • @ZaltysZ Haha, yes you're right, but the albatros should've been able to at least get some hits when it dived, it had a huge advantage in potential energy from the beginning. You forget that the DII has more firepower, but yes as I said, it was the pilot not the plane's fault he lost. Surely that's the way it should be :)
