The Offspring-The Kids Aren't Alright
When we were young the future was so bright,
The old neighborhood was so alive,
Every kid on the whole d*** street,
Was gonna make it big,
And not get beat.
Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn,
The kids are brought up but their lives are worn,
How can one little street,
Swallow so many lives?
Chances thrown,
Nothings free,
Longing for,
What it used to be.
Still its hard, hard to see
Fragile lives,
Shattered dreams.
Jamie had a chance, well she really did,
Instead she dropped out, had a couple of kids.
Mark still lives at home cuz hes got no job,
Just plays guitar, smokes a lot of pot.
Jay comitted suicide,
Brandon od'd and died,
What the h*** is going on,
Cruelist dream reality.
Chances thrown,
Nothings free.
Longing for what it used to be.
Still its hard, hard to see.
