The song is so brilliant in so many ways. I can see little school kids all over the world singing in unison. It appeals to all of us. "Don't you know that you ARE free". Right now!

PEACE

"Stand, you've been sitting much too long, there's a permanent crease in your right and wrong." The man was absolutely brilliant, and his footprint can be seen all over today's music. Thank you Sylvester Stewart!

Along with James Brown,Sly & the Family Stone was a big influence on the funk sound of the late 60s and early 70s. You can hear their influence on people like George Clinton, the Motown recordings of the period,Kool & the Gang, the Ohio Players,Earth Wind & Fire,Bobby Franklin's Insanity and Herbie Hancock.
