I'm NOT American NOR Russian or European. As a third person I'm not one choosing sides with any party.
From information I've gathered up to now it appears that Georgia tried to retake South Ossetia while relying on the fact that they became "good friends" with the US over the past few years.
Now they're trying to make it look like Russia attacked first and that they're just victims so that the rest of the world comes to their aid.
Regardless of who's wrong innocents are dying though :(
