Hello everyone,

I was asked by a few people about my thoughts on UCLA student, Alexandra Wallace's rant about Asians. I also briefly touched upon posts on Facebook pertaining to the disaster in Japan. Please watch, share, and REPLY!!!

  • Nice video! Insightful. i I'm mixed Asian, live in Asia, and for a second I was offended as well! I showed this video to my friends here in Korea though and no one, not one got upset, everyone kept laughing and saying "Everything she said is so true, we do talk too loud in the library, etc" laughing & laughing ... So hmm .... maybe it's because people in America are much more sensitive about race, but just saying .. might want to take a tip and just let some things brush off the shoulder :)<3

  • @KateLove21 - Thank you! Appreciate the love!!!

  • I wish all Americans had this mans perspective.

  • @anteater15-well said, my friend. well said.

  • Privilege in the sense that US culture or White culture is one that goes unexamined because it is the normalized in our society and therefore, is perceived to be untouchable or not safe to openly discuss. Although they are emerging, critical whitestudies is a field that still does not get much attention because it challenges and critically examines white privilege and white supremacy and brings to the table an open and honest discussion of white culture in this world.

  • I would respectfully argue with you on the melting pot and lack of US culture comments. I problematize the melting pot analogy due to its nature of nurturing an assimilation approach to humanity. Melting away in a melting pot, our society becomes one culture (the dominant culture), and diversity becomes nonexistent. Secondly, to say there is no US culture is to normalize the dominant US culture. In our society, it is also a form of privilege.

  • Mike nice video! I feel ya on the ignorant Japan comments made. That shit continued when the US lost to Japan in the world cup, common online trends included "Pearl Harbor" and "Japs," clear manifestations of racial and historical ignorance and insensitivity.

  • Finally someone has doesn't bitch like a monkey. Kudos for being intelligent.

  • i honestly don't think she had ANY idea what the aftermath of her comments was gonna b! After watching her vid 3x, what she really seemed to b expressing was the way, (in HER opinion) or 'tone' in which some people spoke, hence, her use of all the 'Ohhhs'. That seemed 2 bug her. She didn't seem 2 b referring to asian-americans as much as 'visiting' asians. imho, she came across as someone who was starting 2 feel as if 'she' really didn't fit in and lashed out with a silly rant. Was her right
