Why (Annie Lennox) Cover By Gareth Rhodes

Why by Annie Lennox covered by me, Gareth Rhodes. I remember being a kid when this song came out and it seemed to get heavy air play on MTV, back then i was nothing but a metal head, and all i wanted to hear was Guns N Roses and Ugly Kid Joe, but having heard the song again recently, it struck me how great it was.

@shane62895 Oh, i wholeheartedly agree with you. In pretty much every case, the original always wins, even more so with someone like Annie Lennox. I usually do rock covers so taking on something like this is miles out of my natural comfort zone. I guess my intention with all these covers, is always to do my own version of something i consider to be great, i know that im never going to equal the original but i still love to pay tribute with my own version.

@N1nJAGoAT Thank you very much. Yes, this was a tough one, Annie Lennox is such a legendary voice and i had to try and somehow do a version that wasn't trying to emulate anything she did. I hope i did a version that reflects me.

@Qumru I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't like it, but it's only fair that i accept this and understand that in some cases the love of an original version is so great that there can never be another version. I don't think it's ever possible to "absolutely destroy" and original song though, the original will always exist in it's greatness, other versions just give a new interpretation. I'm happy with my version.

Wow! One of my favourite songs! Annie is from the city I come from (Aberdeen) and went to skl with my Mum! My sister is at music skl with her daughter also...Brilliant cover Gareth, it's been a while!
