Put a spoon of ZrO2 powder and 1.5 spoons of magnesium(or aluminum) powder together and mix it thoroughly.
And use a burning magnesium ribbon to ignite this mixture.
Wait for about ten minutes ensuring this mixture had all reacted.
Put this ash into a 2L beaker , and then pour 1.5L 5M HCl(aq) into this beaker slowly. (Zirconium metal powder has a strong anti-corrosion ability so it will not be dissolved. )
Repeat this procedure about two times until no stuff react with this solution.
Use a plenty of water to wash this dust until the pH of this solution arise to 6~7.
Dry this powder and you have your own Zirconium powder.
