This was built from the series of 7 books by David Gingery; "Build Your Own Metal Working Shop From Scrap" (available from Lindsay Technical Books). The Milling Machine is #4. They are not "kits" as such- you make wooden patterns, ram up the sand molds, melt the aluminum, pour the castings, then finish the pieces and assemble your machine. The principles and the steps to build them are all spelled out for you; anybody patient & good w/hand tools can build them.

Thanks for the complements ! I cast most of the parts over a weekend (with help from my friends) after spending about 6 mos making the patterns. It took me another year or two to machine (on the lathe) the parts and get it all together. There are a few mistakes here and there, but over all it works good, and i use it frequently. the next addition to it will be the power hack-saw attachment, and a cnc'd x/y carrige (its wearing out fast)
