My girlfriend Robin's strange and beautiful Paphiopedilum lowii "lady's slipper" orchid truly seems to dance as it opens a new flower. Once it has finished dancing, doesn't it seem to sing? Exposures were taken at 1.5 minute intervals over about 69 hours (Mar 23 - 26, 2006). Camera flash was used in every shot to compensate for variations in ambient sunlight. The camera automatically adjusted its focus, depth of field, and shutter speed.

  • nice project... thankx for the tech info... what media/resolution for originals..??

  • thanks. The photos were taken with a Canon Powershot A95 on a tripod. The original photos have a resolution of 2592x1944. Needless to say, I have a 5gig version of this video that looks AWESOME, but I can't figure out the best compression method to reduce size and maintain quality. I'm pretty sure I haven't found the best balance.
