1986 Ford commercial featuring racing

This was the year after Bill Elliot set all kinds of records on the super speedways. I found it in some old VHS tapes I'm converting to digital. Sorry the audio is a little low.

@sir945 Bill Elliot is still racing part time on the Sprint Cup circuit. - drivng the #21 for the Wood Brothers. Don't know what has happened to Bob Glidden.

How I long for the good ole days! I loved this commercial then. I loved the grill on the T-Birds. Bill Elliot was the greatest.

@sir945 Ford does pretty good in motorsports for what they got. They don't put the money in Nascar like GM does. Roush is the only thing Ford has got in Nascar. Where as GM has Hendrick and Childress. Hey they've won 3 out of the last 4 Daytona 500s.

I remember back when Bill Elliot was winning all those races somebody asked Darrell Waltrip if he thought Elliot was cheating. DW said, "Boy I hope so! If he isn't, we're in trouble!!"

The Ford GTP was a dud, unfortunately, much like the Mustang GTP before it. But, I remember this commercial! Loved it, too!

@doodad1 Couldn't agree more ! This is the first real car commercial I can remember that even mentioned racing. I was a Tim Richmond fan but also liked Bill. That T-bird sure was a fast car and Ford's jingle on their commercial was great! It's time for NASCAR to bring back the true days of stock car racing. By the way where's WINSTON?

@mitchdfla But remember before there was a Probe there was the front engined Ford Mustang GTP? I was really hoping it could make some noise against all the 962s....but I guess it was just a stepping stone to the Probe.

@acidblister True! I remember Doc Bundy trying to make room where there wasn't any. Typical for him. Shame the Probe never became the GTP us Ford fans hoped for. At least we had the Roush GTO Class cars, eh?

There was a similar Ford Racing Commercial in 1987 and 1988. Those were great days. I don't feel the same excitement watching racing today.
