II. 'Et in terra pax'
for chorus (SATB), strings and basso continuo
___

DR Vokalensemble,
Concerto Copenhagen,
conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen

Concert: 13 March 2008 in Frederiksberg (Radiohuset)

Pitch: A = 415 Hz

For this work, I have chosen a modern vocal score, from which I have removed the editorial dynamic indications.

However, in this version, 5 bars from the original score are missing (39 to 43) and 5 others have been modified (35 to 38, and 44). Using a complete full score as a reference, I have edited these 5 modified bars, and the additional system that can be seen at 1:50 has been entirely reconstructed; for this section, I have made a keyboard reduction on the same pattern as the rest of the score.

  • @75londonraider what? If there is a word that doesn't belong in baroque vocabulary is angst. That kind of feelings didn't make part of the composers soul in the act of creation. That's why so many conductors (famous!) makes huge mistakes when they played baroque music. I don't need one thousand people on the choir and the tempo of a funeral march to move me with this piece.

  • I think the choir does a fantastic job. I don't like the strings so much in the beginning.

There is nothing "angst" about this piece. In english it means "And peace on earth, good towards men." Don't get fooled by the beautiful chords in minor :-)

  • this version is so week, it misses all the real passion and angst, very poor
