  • Hey Maximum, do you know anything about Init scripts?

  • @Elliottslingsby Not really

  • If your setting up your server to serve static IP addresses based on your given one from your ISP, has your ISP allowed you static serving, otherwise your IP will change a few times within a year, and your sevrer set up will fail

  • @longboardlifer Yeah I have several static IPs

  • Hi, I installed Ubuntu Server 10.10 x64 on Virtualbox to test it out. However, after the installation and it asked me to remove the disc and continue to reboot, when the the server restarted I am on the CLI with the yellow shell.

    It looks like this:

    Shell>

Does anyone know what's the problem with my installation?

    Thanks

  • @123456iambelial I'm afraid that I can't help you with that. I've never had that problem

  • You are very knowledgeable...Thanks for the info.

  • Message me to teach you Everything you need to build a Web Server and get a free fixed Addresss (for example mysite.zapto.org). You need a pc, a simple internet connection (1mbps or more) ! I can assist you via teamviewer remote desktop to setup everything for you ! You DONT need to have static ip address or any special internet provider plan ! Do you have a bussiness do you want to host BIG Video files ? THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION

  • @c0deman057 thank you very much

  • hahahaha you look like the etrade baby

  • @123456iambelial Ubuntu Server doesn't come with a graphical desktop (GNOME or otherwise) installed. You would need to download and install one of your choice. That is too much to explain here so you should either Google it or start out just using the Ubuntu Desktop version. Hope this helps.
