Journey with me back to Timbuktu
The Mali Empire
Egyptian tombs
Land of Kush, Nubia
Cradle of Civilization
Africa
The first world powers in recorded history
were governed by people who look just like me
In the days of old when Our People were kings
gold and diamonds were common things
Even now our people still bling, not knowing
thousands of years ago
African women rocked gold nose rings
Sense of justice back then was keen
Griots existed, libraries living
Written records and oral traditions
The first University
We come from an ancient civilized people
Masters of World Trade
but things were not to remain the same
Hence, the black slave trade

And so it reads:
The first will become last
and those last, first
Before Columbus and Vespucci
explorers from Africa
traversed the earth
But African slave trafficking
became a profitable industry
and by the hands of their own people
some were sold into slavery
In a manner similar to Joseph
being sold by his brothers
to a group of Ishmaelites
historically their distant cousins
Many more Africans were captured
and kidnapped by Europeans
To spend hundreds of years working
building up every foreign nation
in which they were living
Many became lost, forgetting their original history
original language, and original beliefs
It was way to easy
with the aid of people like slick Willie
Lynching a peoples mentality
for the purpose of exploitation
free labor during the birth of a nation

Wake up my people
Your real world history was hi-jacked and hidden from you
In order to turn you into
a bunch of Mammies, Niggers, and Coons

Turn on the TV and see
the downplaying of our ancestors contributions to world society
A push to remove the evidence of our positive presence
from world history
The magnification of our faults and weaknesses
The deliberate promotion of stereotypical stupidity
And those ideas permeate the collective consciousness
of society today
Just go to YouTube
browse through
videos about Ancient African Civilizations
then read what the comments say
Examine the history books at your local public school
observe the pictures
as a whole what do they say about you

In America, we are the source
of many Inventions, breakthroughs, and innovations
but you may not learn that in school
but during Black History month
from publicly traded corporations

This poem was not composed with the intent
to provoke hatred
For those with the wisdom to see know
you can never be truly free of anything or anyone hated

Besides, every negative connection has a positive side
Black seeds were planted throughout the earth
sprouting into plants and trees that will protect,
feed, and nourish all of mankind (The diaspora)

For the prophecy states:
By means of us, all nations will bless themselves
not through bigotry
but a reunion of the global family

The age of selfishness is over
The age of self-discovery, self-mastery and cooperation has begun
Cooperation, meaning we are co-operators of this planet
an ultimately function as one

I's time for the descendants of all ancient civilizations
to come together and co-operate
For ourselves, our children and future generations sake

I for see many of us
turning our homes into learning centers of knowledge and self-defense
Many of us becoming teachers, entrepreneurs
inventors, scientists

Building up our own personal libraries
Promoting productive learning in our communities
Making ignorance a lost chapter in the pages of history

Knowing the past
Living in the moment
and moving forward to a better future
It's part of our heritage and we won't be complete
unless we do it

Join Me
and through our efforts, hopefully
we'll achieve what we believe
The results in which we seek

One big global family
