Cool, but personally i'd suggest a Cockroft-Walton, or CW multiplier.

leuk gedaan ;)

what are the values of the caps and resistors?
-
all the capacitors charge up to the same voltage because of the resistors, then when the first gap breaks down the voltage across the next is doubled causing it to break down and so on.
-
i wonder how they are made , not found to often , with that circuit dose that double voltage or something.
-
They look like "doorknob" caps. Very much desired by high voltage experimenters because of their HV rating, rugged construction and other high quality traits. I never have enough of them!

:) perhaps we are "splitting the positive" (hint)
In 1965 I was at Keesler AFB, MS where we had a great amateur radio club with lots of surplus parts, test benches, etc. to play with. A lieutenant came back from an electronics class one day and rigged up the same circuit using oil-filled caps and Coke bottles for insulators. He dropped a screw into one of the gaps and kapow! I guess he learned his day's lesson well.
