After seeming this I get goosebumbs I remember the routes that had them. Iring park belmont fullerton Cicero north Pulaski but others didn't have them like Addison diversey lake street
great , we remember them tooz in the 1960s belmont and fullerton lines had them !!!and diversey and clyborne didnt .they had new look and old look buses.. in the 1960s..coooool though!!! blue sprarks and all no air condtioning on those or handi capped or low floor also..
I remember those when I was a little kid before we moved, then we'd visit in the early 70s. My grandma lived off Lawrence (which had the trolley buses), we'd take them either to the Howard "L" or walk to the last station on the Ravenswood line (now called the Brown Line) and ride the green and white trains. Any kid who loved transportation had to love Chicago.
They worked too well -- had to get rid of them. As a kid, I enjoyed watching the fat blue sparks at the cable contacts as the buses crossed the cables at intersections.

In the '60s Chicago's electric bus system was massive! What a loss! At least they lasted a couple of decades beyond streetcars.
