@garryarcher41 ehhh, no, black metal in its true form was very short lived and very sloppy sounding, cradle seemed to cope with the metronome too well to be considered black metal, plus they had keys and catchy riffs layered over the raw guitar riffs, so that kind of strayed it quite well from black metal. But as for the rock part, absolutely, I've seen them back in 2001 with the Midian lineup, and it was an awesomely great show!

ahhh, the good old days ;)...miss those times. MIss that line up too. Sucks the only good new popular music is coming from these soon to be old timers, Cradle included. Shame the music has no direction other than to sell out and make money on the spot these days. Why strip away talent from where it belongs? Fuck we're getting old...and I feel like an old bomb saying this, but all the teenie boppers these days are exposed to shit, not metal; screamo is not metal and not cool...PERIOD!!!

I would call cradle of filth a hybrid of symphonic black metal and gothic black metal, with occasional elements of other extreme metals
