INTELLIGENCE FUSION CENTERS and Government Disinformation

a disturbing headline from DemocracyNow,org this week quoting an article from the Washington Post . about the Strategic Operations Command's funding a 2006 study which contained ideas on how to lie and create division among people on the web, hack websites, hire bloggers to flack their line...and a note from Wired.com about Big Brother's Fusion Centers- made me wanna see Slim Pickens blow things up real good in that ol' durn movie. We always seem to find out later that some in govt. are doing bad things. Is this sort of thing in practice now? One would imagine so. We need a new relationship to the military and a better grasp of what they shouldn't be allowed to do within our borders.Sorry I blew up the earth again- good thing I'm not a General, huh?

What really is worrisome here is that the NSA is expanding the power and reach of the fusion centers to find evidence of "radicals" and the Pentagon is possibly planting evidence in computers as suggested by the Washington Post story///in 2002 these agecies began collecting and sharing data together through "secret rooms" at at&t and elsewhere, so it woul b simple for the agencies to team up and frame whoever they want to. Scary? Ummm, well I think it is. Because if the Pentagon gacks your website and changes data, they could make you seem a terrorist- then just call the Homeland Security boys and tip them off- suddenly you are facing trumped-up charges because of what the Strategic Operations Command put in yr data. And of course you will never find out who did it- Its a matter of "national security." This is the paraboid view of course- but has this country ever edged so close to a Plice State before?
