I believe that the human race is currently going through growing pains. The bible was written by a bygone culture, and we are having trouble letting go of it. We are experiencing a temporal culture clash. To use the bible's words...it is time for us to put away childish things. We can't allow ages-old superstition to impede our progress.

*The bible does clearly state that this ritual "cleanses leprosy". But what is "cleansing"? Let's look to Matthew 8:2-4, Mark 1:40-45, and Luke 5:12-16. In those passages, Jesus is described as "cleansing the leper". for example, in Matt 8:3, Jesus HEALS a leper and these words are used to describe it: "Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying 'I am willing; be cleansed.' Immediately his leprosy was cleansed." The wording in Leviticus also uses the word "cleansed" as it describes cleansing the leper with this bird sacrifice procedure. Occasionally, leprosy has healed without treatment. If that happened it might have given some false credibility to the bird sacrifice. In most cases, however, it surely didn't work, but they might have believed it needed to be done - as with many superstitions. If the leprosy wasn't healed, it was "God's will" (punishment).

  • darkmetter raises good point there should be alternative bible medicine for all religious people

  • Cute vid. I’ve long said that if Biblicists take the Bible seriously as they say, then they’d feel medical school is a waste of time. How much more could physicians do for the patients if they’d spent a decade of intensive study in prayer and casting-out-demons instead of medical school?

  • LOL! Love the photo on the headstone.

  • "I believe that the human race is currently going through growing pains. The bible was written by a bygone culture, and we are having trouble letting go of it." mainly due to muslims

  • wait wait wait? so can we eat the bird? since in the bible it say's not to eat unclean birds "bats"... Cant let a good bird go to waste :D yum :D

  • @alabamamanable On second thought, don't eat it, I could do without another food poisoning (as if that's a real thing) lawsuit.

  • I tried the bird cure because my dining room was teeming with leprosy. The dinner guests enjoying themselves prior to the dose were somehow unable to think in the long term. My dining room has been leprosy-free for a year now at the low cost of 2 birds, a knife, one nice dinner, three friends, and a box of condoms (initially I grossly misinterpreted the directions, but it hasn't seemed to affect the prognosis). So eat that.

  • DarkMatter2525 made me spit my soda all over the monitor laughing when I saw the grave results! lol

  • Im sick because of the dead birds bacteria and germs. Thanks bible for worsening the condition
