This is good video for my good friend Calvin. Not that I'm a guru of anything, but in general, he tends to never take a position and continually tells me things I haven't thought about.

I'm asking those who advocate "individual freedoms" and "liberarianism", how are / is the individuals freedom best protected? Through a system where a few can put pressure on and gain more access to the political system than others, because economics are heavily scewed in the favour of "independence", as in "unregulated", meaning no protection for the small against the misuse of power of the large and economically stronger...

There is always a "regulation" of activity, regarldess if we call it "law" or anything else. Also, the monolithic lawgivers stand between the common man and restitution for the deeds of the powerful.
The lucky and resourcreful will always have more power. Reason and history indicate that to create an even more powerful group in hoipes of combating those "powerful ones" is a lost cause, it will lead to collusion and integration.

I dont get it. so lets keep it simple. democracy, with some ground rules ( constitution, laws that prevent the "51% from terrorising the 49%" as it were ) individual freedoms are protected best how? by letting some people have much more power than others economically , politically or otherwise?
gunthaarz 2 years ago
I'm not clear on whether you are putting this forward as an improvement or as something doomed to failure:
"democracy, with some ground rules ( constitution, laws that prevent the "51% from terrorising the 49%" as it were )"
-for, as I see it, a singular source of these "laws" is exactly what you describe next:
"letting some people have much more power than others economically , politically or otherwise"
