Well, to be honest, 1 3 6 9 are the only ones that matter, and that's only if you're playing with 3 6 9 as the money balls.. however, it's a good habit (I think) to try to split the balls up pretty evenly, and consistantly, so the balls are spread out. IE - Makes it harder to run out.

Actually you can rack the balls in a specific order to increase the odds of positioning specific balls on the table, in order to increase your chances of getting a shot on the lowest ball and running out.
