  • Is that the skull gas cap that Harley sells? Looks Great! I have the same bike. I put street bob mini apes on it, along with Willie G skull hand grips - 1.6 mm ( the thickest). I really like it. I am in my 50's and the stock h. bars were too hard on my back. I also got the mini tach. I am leaving the stock pipes on. I became somewhat deaf from my 1984 FLH's drag pipes.

  • Yeah that's the cap that Harley sells. Seems to be the big eye catcher on the bike for most people. Funny. I sat on a bike recently with the mini ape's and I didn't really like the feel. Thinking about drag bars.

  • Thanks, hopefully no one will steal it. I may get one myself. It looks easier to unscrew than the stock cap.

  • Much easier to remove. You can actually get a grip on it.

  • Does the bike run hot with fuel injection? It is set very lean and has oxygen sensors. I live in Phoenix and will try Amsoil 60w synthetic this summer. I just bought the bike in Nov 2007.

  • The oil temp on my bike has never been hotter than 200. Even on really hot days or very long rides. I also am using synthetic.

  • @DHRC18 Ey dude! I have the XL883C and it is the best sporty on the road... for me. I love to ride my bike alone, but with a LePera Maverick seat + sissy bar the experience to ride with my wife has been better and better. In the other hand, i have de Nightster 1200cc and yes, there is a difference that you can feel in the powertrain, more engine torque.... So, if you plan to ride across the state with your wife, i recommend to you the 1200cc one ;)

  • @CaracasVtwin Can I ask a question?.....I am buying one this spring and was deciding between the 883 or 1200, do you know if there is a signficant difference that would make someone choose one over the other? I'm not racing anybody but do want to throw my wife on the back from time to time and take rides in the country up and down some hills......thanks.

  • like mine without the pipes. awesome machine my man. it is by far my favorite personal bike out of 20 at least in my life. i just came off a vtx1800 '05 and love this version way more, especially the nimbleness. shiny side up my friend.

  • I have the same year, but 883. Sweet bike !!!

  • I hope to have one of these soon. Just need to get the mustang painted first...

  • That's one Hell of a sportster... i love How Harley's always have a distinctive sound depending on their Level of idling and their Pipes :D

  • I have the same bike also exept mine is pacific blue and I love it!

  • Me too, I have the same model and year 2007...

I was riding too Milwaukee 105 th from México City, after i went ride alone to Montreal, to Niagara Falls, N.Y., Washington DC, Nashville and Memphis and come back to México ( to Agust 22th to Sep 15th 2008 )...

That Harley is a battle Horse, in the freeways is like a aeroplane...

I didn´t have any ploblem even though i was in middle of tropical storm Iker when i went to Nashville to Memphis to come back ...

    Congratulations!!!

  • I have the same year/model. I put the other skull cover on my gas cap - I like yours a lot better. Maybe I'll switch.

Wife bought me the essentials kit w/windshield, Sundowner seat, and backrest. Looking forward to taking her out when the snow melts.

Got the chrome oil/battery cover on eBay for $130.00 total. They look great!

    NICE BIKE!

  • Thanks, my dipstick temp. gauge has never been over 200 degrees either. I will see what happens in the 105 degree temp. which will be here before I know it. I love the bike. Take care, ride safe and thanks again for the info.
