@WatchVenusSpa this statement is flat out wrong. Nebraksa defeated Oklahoma during the season. If Nebraska had kicked the PAT, Nebraska would've won the National Championship. Osbourne plays to win, and I will always respect his decision even though it backfired on him this game.

4th&8 and calls an option then passes for 2pt conversion. Ask me rozier woulda ran straight thru em n got it but its ashame there was no overtime then they deserved to play longer this game shoouldnt of been decided like tht but those were the rules then n mia made the play. Also what year did college stop using tees on field goal attempts? Also that block fg in the 1st qtr was huge in the end score and the short fg by miami. Truly a game of inches

One note worth mentioning, had Osborne taken the easy way out and kicked the point after it's not 100% certain that the Huskers would have won the National Title. The press and coaches in the polls ALWAYS had a problem with teams taking the "cowards" way out.
Having said that if Nebraska doesn't go for 2 and takes the kick and the tie they would have likely eliminated Miami as National Champs, (it would have been Oklahoma's year,) but the Huskers wouldn't have won it either.

@WatchVenusSpa What in the world are you talking about? Either you're drunk (which seems likely) or you are saying that a multiple loss OU team would have won the MNC. (I've seen delusional OU fans before but wow) Or you are saying that NU the only no loss team in the country would not have won the MNC and a 2-3 loss team would have it? Ya know what? @nwana1977 Notre Dame took the easy way out in the 60's, (a bizarre incident where they quit playing so their opponent could get a fast TD so they could get the ball back and salvage a win,) and the coaches and writers' polls snubbed them for it.
Had Osborne kicked his single and taken his tie I think it would have yielded a weak National Champion because neither Miami or Nebraska would have won it that year as a result.
