I don't quite get this circuit. What's the benefit here? Does it simply pump the energy from one battery into another?

hey Buddy, just a little question, i recently was trying to build one, i'm newbie in electronics stuffs and free energy paradigm, i have a doubt: Does it is necessary using batteries or capacitors???, or the fan can spin without it??. I will be very grateful for the answer THANKS

Just to make this clear: This fan produces electricity, while some of the electricity produced is recycled into the motor to keep it running. In average these fans need about 20% of the electricity they produce to keep running. In a close circuit like this you need the neon bulb to "burn" the excessive electricity, else the circuit would overload and burn out the transistor. This is the cheapest and easiest way to build a free energy device and should be a science project in every school.

Excellent. I have built three in the last couple of days. Two like yours and one bigger one using the big radio shack fan. It will charge batteries . I have charged a few with mine. you will notice the charging batteries are nice and cool!!

thus this circuit charges the source batery without the load batteries?

The reason the neon light is lit, is because you need batteries hooked up to it. The light is trying to save your transistor.
this is my first imhotep fan, when i turn the pot back and fort the neon light dim then bright and also the fan turn slowly then fast.. i hope you like it... have a nice day
