  • There have been many official Temptations. Motown controls the name so when an original member left, they were replaced so everyone could keep making money. Dennis Edwards is in the white suit. Richard Street is next to him on his left. I don't remember the names of the others in the video, but as has been stated here, only David Ruffin is an original Temptation. Melvin Franklin was alive at this point but had stopped touring. Same for Otis Williams.Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks had passed.

  • Sweet Kelly. My Dad played sax too.

  • Thanks for posting this wonderful video. There is more talent represented on that single stage than exists in the entire music industry today. We were lucky to have them in our generation. I feel sorry for young people today, since the music is lousy and lip synched.

  • happy birthday david ruffin. rip.

  • Umm, those are NOT the Temptations....that aside, David Ruffin is Classic and will always remain one of my all time favorites!!

  • @derek135 i agree they were all great, but marvin himself admitted he was envious of the worldliness/virility of ruffin's voice......and i think there were elements of all the guys i named in ruffin's singing.........and if you don't think cooke belongs on the list, you and i can agree to disagree. that said, i agree stevie/smokey are on any list of great soul singers, but remember i was identifying performers who lead me (at least) to ruffin in terms of sound and style.

  • @jaygatsby1 Wrong ,marvin-come on,,there all my best..Not so much cook tho..add smokey and stevie

  • if you took sam cooke, ray charles, otis redding and marvin gaye and mixed them all up you'd get david ruffin. as soulful of a voice as there ever was.

  • man! this is good! southern soul will not get 1 fraction of theses hit in 100,000 years - down with southern soul
