Episode: Malice for Quake
Level: Takahiro Towers
Secrets: Two
Difficulty: Hard

Daylight! Or nightlight! Or grey funky looking clouds that forever hang in the sky. Whatever. It's good to actually be outside again. Yeah, I know I was outside in The Hospital but that doesn't count because it wasn't very good! I always remember every time I used to play this game back on my dilapidated shed of an old PC, Malice ALWAYS used to crash when this level loaded up. If I was fortunate enough to get the damn thing to load and make it to the end of the level, the game would crash there instead. Good ol' Pentium MMX PC - may you find inner peace within the dusty confines of my loft.

A much better level than recent offerings. There's a sense of non-linearity to this level (only a bit mind) that it makes it stand out much better than the dull grey box maps of Area 33 & 44 respectively. There's even a chance to cause wanton destruction in a sewer by shooting out a VERY sensitive gas main thus revealing the all-important Gold Keycard. Just the sort of mindless violence that appeals to me!

Sporadic fights and affrays aside, there's a small delay in venturing forward due to myself having a spot of bother with the Hoverboard. I suppose it's my fault for trying to initially jump from a VERY narrow railing to a higher building. I swear it looks like Damage is always about to fall off the damn thing which puts me in two minds whether or not my proposed jump is going to work. I suppose that's what the third person option is for - to try and get a better sense of where your position is. But it's not much better when my sense of balance is shagged!

It's the sort of thing I rely a great deal on.

  • Pushing boxes?! Reloading animations?! Cutscenes?!? What year did you say this was made?

  • @6PrinceofDarkness6 1997! October 15th, 1997 to be precise!

  • What do the ladies say when they're not dying at your hands and ammo?

  • @Votapardo It *sounds* like they're saying something along the lines of 'something something bastard'. In all honesty, I've never been able to figure out what they mutter under their breath. My ears are not that finely tuned unfortunately.
