  • First class work mate. Been folllowing your thread on PFK and it's inspired me to have a go at something similar. The one thing I'm wondering though is that with all those pumps and lights how much per week or month is this aquarium costing you in electric?

  • @Skylined99

sorry for the delayed reply, i completely forgot.

To be honest i'm not sure what the overall cost of electricity is, i would guess at somewhere around £5 per week ??

  • what are the sun sun pumps like mate?? value for money??

  • @machaud1

I have no complaints with mine. They're over a year old now and still going strong, so good value in my book.

  • Well done! Finally someone who has bothered to explain the ins an outs of what everything is AND how it works in laymans terms. Thanks alot I found it very helpful!

  • @krisnis

Thanks very much. There is a detailed build thread on the 'practical fishkeeping forum' website if you need to know anything else.

  • 40 secs into the video you said you have siliconed something into the bulk heads, not sure if you said huts? to quiten the flow of water, can you explain please.

  • Good vid

  • Nice, but what happens if your heater/s go out?

  • That is a nice set up!!!

  • very nice setup. can you tell me what type of pipe glue did you use and where did you buy it from?

  • great tank!!! i took a few ideas from that. your method of quieting the water flow from the weir is being put to use for def. not critising your cam but if you got a better cam you should open a channel.

  • Very nice setup matey. I have been keeping tropical fish for just over a year and already I am wanting to upgrade to marine. Have been studying it for a while now and it doesnt sound to complicated just the cost on equipment. Do you think its to soon for me to be thinking about marine as I have only been keeping fish for a year? Thank you for taking the time to read this. Great video!!

  • Nice video mate, I am getting a new sump filtered tank, I never really thought of using my eheim as well, I think ill add this to it for extra filtration. Cheers, Kev

  • Nice system especially the RDSB. Don't understand though get some more lights and this thing is coral ready. Not a fan of the upflow drilled pipe (i'm sry not english don't know the word). Kinda dangerous cause any type of valve is prone to things getting stuck, like snails and detritus buildup + reduced flow cause of dragg. That's when shit hits the fan.

  • @loon3y667 i have a fluval fx5 on my current 4ft system. in the canister i have only sponge which acts as the mechanical filtration. I have no media and rely purely on the live rock in my tank to biologically filter the water. i have real low nitrates and have done for over a yr now. Hope this helps
