@Doll0555 It's because of his work with establishing and writing pieces for string quartets that alot of people refer to him as "Papa Haydn".

I've been listening to Haydn all my life, one of my favorite composers along with Mozart and Beethoven. This third movement to the Concerto in C lifts him above all his ever done into their class, and as exciting as music can ever be.

How come people call him Papa Haydn? Is that something that has been around forever? Where did that originate?

A marvelous performance of a stupendous composition by the great Papa Haydn. Hard to believe this was discoved as late as 1962! Bravi tutti!

@Curatica "Clownish" is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe he likes the whole Renaissance thing. A lot of people do; it made a pretty good comeback not too many years ago. As for it being "a sign of disrespect for the audience," that's just you making a harsh judgment based on your personal preferences. Get over your self-importance.

The soloist is simply outstanding and so is the chamber orchestra. The conductor looks more like a banker than a musician. I have never seen a conductor look so casual yet get such good results. I guess the musicians simply ignored him.
