i was lucky 2 b involved in a scholarship where we volunteered with the elderly with eyesight handicaps.
Yechiel sadly passed away in the beginning of February after a few difficult weeks in the hospital. his head was still strong and clear, but his 95 years young body couldn't take it any more.
i visited him in last 2 years once or twice a week and we did all kinds of things together - exercise, reading newspapers, chatting, writing some of his life stories, and on hot days we simply enjoyed mother nature and the out doors.
Yechiel was a very kind and loving man who succeeded to survive the Holocaust as a youngster. he fled to the forests and joined the Partisans, and tried to bomb the train rails to slow down the Nazis.
Yechiel came to Israel with wife and created a big supporting family that is spread out through the country.
i'm grateful i got the time to spend with him, and that i gladdened his day a little.
