  • mine starts up no problem, but when i give it gas, it starts to die and loses power. after a while it eventually dies. can someone help? i tried adjusting valves, but same problem.

  • @vaska916 Check your intake manifold between the carburetor and the cylinder head for leaks by spraying carb cleaner on it while the buggy is idling. If the idle changes in any way (revs up or down), you've got an air leak and will need to replace the intake.

If you have no leaks, remove the carburetor and completely clean it, especially the bowl area at the bottom and jets inside the bowl. It's very common for them to become gummed up with old fuel if it sat all winter with gas in the carb.

  • Do you do this valve adjusment if you are already hearing tapping noise?

  • You can do it regardless if whether there is a tapping noise or not. On one of my buggies, there was no tapping noise but I had a LOT of difficulty getting it to start. After adjusting the valves using this method the idle was miles better, overall performance increased, and it starts immediately every time, even when cold.

You can do this adjustment if it sounds like it needs it or not.

Trying to find the factory setting for my Kinroad Raptor 250cc. The guy I bought it from had tinkered with it and didn't mark the original spots and so I wanted to start from ther. It starts now but wont idle at all to allow for an adjustment. Ideas?

  • @sbfrench1975 If it will start, but not stay idling, adjust the idle screw on your carburetor until it will stay running long enough to warm up.

At that point, adjust the valves as shown in the video, and the adjust the carburetor idle screw back out.

  • @BuggyPartsNW thank you. I'll try that.
