It's cool that some artists think outside the traditional concepts and stuff but I wouldn't sit down and be "Let's listen to some Stockhausen" =P Still, this can give people some good ideas on making music :b
This piece wasn't composed with form in mind; Stockhausen's works were never imbued with it. His contributions to academia primarily have to do with the juxaposition of different timbres in order to create new ones. People that claim the inferiority of this music based upon its formlessness are thinking entirely in the wrong mindset. Avant-garde was composed from the post-modernist perspective of forcing you to rethink fundamental definitions and concepts you thought need not be defined.
@TheFuckingBanshee Sorry, but I have to disagree. This piece is concieved with an exact form in mind. To be more precise. It is based on a three-part melody that is expanded and some expanded motives are superimposed on these melodies. This adds up to a form of about half an hour of music, entirely based on the notes from this superformula.
