S.I. XXIV The McFarlane Line

Here's a look at the new Simpsons line of toys. I just bought the Flanders/Bart/Mutant squirrel set but it hasn't come in yet. Here's my movie review...

My thoughts on the movie was it was definitely worth the wait! Solid animation and some material thrown in that would never make it into the TV show. As much as I harp on merchandise being too Homer/Bart/Krusty-centric, here is a movie that focused for the most part on OFF, but I didn't mind. I especially liked Julie Kavner's performance in the Marge tape, she almost uses her actual speaking voice as she tells Homer she can no longer overlook his faults. Any criticism on my part is just pettiness, but Julie was given credit for Patty & Selma's voice, yet they were absent in the movie. Most of the other characters were only given a line or two. I wouldn't have minded a two-hour movie to allow more characters some screen time (I say that as a fan, a more casual viewer might object to an animated movie that long) Also, what became of Spiderpig/Harry Plopper? He just sort of disappeared from the plot. Lisa's story felt a little tacked on, although Yeardley always delivers for her role. I'm hoping the sequel (Yeardley all but confirmed one was coming on Countdown w/ Keith Olberman) will be THOH inspired, with three different stories, that will be able to push the envelope like this movie did for the show. This movie took over 4 years to make so don't hold your breath for the next one. But I think the overall reception for this film shows FOX how strong their first success still is after 20 years. In summary, I give this film 9 THUMBS UP!!

Yeah, there was a packaging error with that one, but it shows off the playset more, so I don't mind.
