http://athleanx.com Take a look at more hamstrings workouts and more than likely you'll see the hamstring curl as the primary exercise in the workout. If you find one like this or are currently following a workout like this...I'm asking you to do just one thing...STOP IT!

While it's true that the hamstring curl machine may in fact train the muscles of the leg to bend the knee and activate the hamstrings...this is NOT the way these muscles work in function. The minute you get up on your feet and stand (as you do for almost 90% of all sports and activities) you no longer need the hamstrings to actively flex the knee. As a matter of fact, they do the opposite!

When you're standing, the hamstrings actually decelerate knee bending and instead actually straighten the knee!! Crazy I know since it's backwards from everything you've been taught...but true.

When you train using a workout that teaches the hamstrings how to bend the knee you're actually setting yourself up for an injury to the very same muscle you were trying to prevent that in.

Start training your muscles the way they were MEANT to be trained with AthLEAN-X leading the way. Not only will you stay healthier but you'll also see that you'll get quicker results since you'll be working the muscles the way they were intended to work.

If you want to train not only the hamstrings the right way, but the whole body...then head to http://athleanx.com and get the complete AthLEAN-X Training System. You're legs will thank you!

I have a problem maybe you can give me some advice.

I have knee pain, can't even kneel down for a few seconds. Doctors couldn't find anything I even did an MRI. What I also suffer from is that when I walk often times my knee cap seems to jam and I feel it in the knee that something is blocked. My doctor told me to do leg extensions to strengthen the muscles around the knee but I don't think this makes my problems any better. My knee pain only gets worse through training the knees. :(

  • @xdisciplex Knee extensions?? Terrible advice. Puts way too much shearing stress on the kneecap. I might suggest a second opinion...and maybe even a second MRI. Sounds like possible meniscus trouble from here.

  • Hey Jeff I would highly appreciate if you please get back to me, my upper body is extremely fit but i have struggled for years to build decent glutes, hamstrings and calves. Will i be able to get bigger glutes and hamstrings with these exercise and i will be performing them once a week. Kind regards

  • @alibaloch You can definitely build size and strength with 10-12 reps of the Glute Ham Raise and you can progress to the single leg version of the physioball circles! One time a week is enough for sure

  • is there anything wrong with taking the GHRs to the floor? is it going to far for the muscles to handle?

  • @lee36bob You can take it lower as long as you maintain the hips in the fully extended position (not flexed) and have the strength to resume the upright position

  • just a question. isn't the stability ball leg curl basically the same thing as the leg curl machine,

  • @ChuckNorrris003 you will increase it (only by the next bar up or so) slowly, when it becomes too easy, as in you can complete all reps and sets with ease than increase it.

so say i was doing 10kg of those RDL's i find it eaasy, i'd increase the wieght by another 5kg or something, and do the same amount of reps and sets etc.

DO NOT increase it by too much too soon.

  • See my progress! maybe u got tips, ideas! let me know ;)

  • i think he is gorgeous!!! and intelligent advice please be my trainer :-)

  • i think he is gorgeous!!!

  • Thank you for this video. I'm a track coach and today I was running and thought to myself that the runners naturally do things that exercise the quads and calves and the hamstrings, in many cases, are neglected. So, it was my aim to find plyometrics or some sort of exercises to strengthen the hamstrings. Thank you.

  • If someone could answer my question that would be awesome but I know this video is old. On the three way cable exercise would I ever increase the weight on the cable machine? Or should I find a good weight and leave it alone forever

  • I feel like the elastic band does all the job in the last exercise.. but I'm saying that just by looking..I didn't tried it at the gym yet. Nice videos.

  • @xdisciplex dont do MRI,you want to heal your knees?them leave them alone!i am serious, dont run dont do any exercise for legs, only walk a bit and live a healthy life
