A demonstration of solidarity with the Egyptian people took place in Edinburgh at the Mound off Princes St on Saturday 5th February 2011 at 2pm. The rally was organised by the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) as part of a world-wide call for manifestations of solidarity and demands for freedom for Egypt and all those oppressed in the Arab world by corrupt puppet dictators of the West. Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak has long been an ally of America and has complied with Israel's wish to totally blockade the Palestinians and deny them access to much-needed material and medical aid. If the Mubarak regime had allowed aid through its borders with Palestine there would have been no need to attempt to break the siege by sea and 19 humanitarians would not have been killed by the Israeli navy. The Egyptian government has since let some aid through but it is too little too late. The Egyptian people are fed up with 30 years of corrupt dictatorship, and ashamed that their government is complicit in the genocide against the Palestinians. Mubarak has been in power 7 years longer than the Tunisian dictator who has also been overthrown recently. Mubarak also has a negative influence in other neighbouring Arab countries, as one of the speakers says in his speech. Speakers were invited from Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Libya and Yemen. Mick Napier of the SPSC http://www.scottishpsc.org.uk/ introduces the speakers and has strong words to say about Tony Blair, so-called "peace envoy" in the Middle East. British former prime minister Blair brought anything but peace to the Middle East as the Iraqi speaker who has lost half his family in the illegal war confirms. Medicine for his family was sent back as forbidden goods prohibited under sanctions despite being told earlier that medical goods were not supposed to be sanctioned. This is part two of the rally. Part one contains footage of the preparations, stalls and announcements near the Mound in the run-up to the rally and the first speech.
