Vintage stock footage of one of those "Operation Teapot" atomic bomb tests in Nevada, detonated on May 5th, 1955, in cooperation with the Civil Defense administration to demonstrate the effects of a 29-kiloton atomic explosion on various structures, taken from an old Pathé newsreel. The test was most likely shot silent, as the sound effects heard in the original newsreel were obviously added in post production (most notable the sound of a thunderclap for the shockwave). Here I took that old footage and added new stereo sound effects to simulate what it might have ACTUALLY sounded like (and yes, I did swipe a few sounds from "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull," in addition to my own sound effects library.)

Newsreel footage © 1955, IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN!
