This is a pochette or travel violin I finished making on 10 March 2008. I used standard violin making techniques and measurements and based the shape on one I saw in London at the V&A museum

  • has this wonderful instrument a soundpost?

  • @Mr98giuliano - Yes it has a soundpost - the construction is pure violin, just the shape and size are different

  • Thanks for that - the sound hole positioning was actually a bit of an accident but it seems to work okay. The fiddle sounds much better now since I've fitted a bass-bar.

  • Thanks - it's very handy for playing sessions when travelling, and it certainly gets its share of attention!

  • Thanks itsaguinness :-)

  • Gotcha! hehehe yeah I thought it'd have more impact to go from mime to sound :-)
