Hogenakkal Waterfalls is located in Dharmapuri District and 130 km south-west of Bangalore. It lies on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border, India.
The Cauvery River gets forked at Hogenakkal, forming an island and then it plunges into a deep chasm. A riverside spa, the main attraction is boating using the circular basket boats.
Hogenakkal Waterfalls often referred to as "Cauvery" or "Kavery" or "Kaveri" by locals and the people of Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts in tamilnadu, India where it is situated. Hogenakkal is also described as the 'Niagara' of India.

In Kannada, the word Hogenakal means 'smoking rock.' Since the waters of Cauvery passes through forests with herbs on their journey to Hogenakkal, bathing in these falls is considered to be good for health. Hogenakkal is one of the cold healing waters in India. Massaging facilities are available on the islands of the river.
The best time to visit the place is from July to August. Nearest railhead is at Salem, which is around 114 km away. . Hogenakkal is located about 750 feet above sea level amidst the Melagiri Hills.
