Early one freezing morning I came across this poor, skinny cat. He was so friendly, and when I picked him up and felt his bones protruding, I knew I had to help him. I brought him home, heated up the garage, made him a nice bed, gave him food and water and lots of love. We have a no-kill shelter in our town, and since I knew hubby wouldn't let us keep this cat (we have lots of pets already), I decided I would take him to the shelter. The shelter, however, said we needed an appointment, and that would be one week away. Of course we fell in love with him, and he with us. I took him to our vet to get an "appraisal". If he wasn't too bad off I thought we might talk hubby into keeping him. They did blood work and found that he did NOT have feline leukemia or aides, which were my two biggest fears. He was flea-ridden, only weighed 5 pounds, had a thyroid mass and a thyroid condition that would need to be treated twice daily for his lifetime, and the vet estimated he was approximately 12 years old. He also said the shelter would probably put him to sleep, cuz he was in pretty sorry shape. I was so bummed out, cuz now I lost hope for saving him. As I was getting ready to leave, the vet poked his head out and recommended that we put some fluid in him (he was 12-1/2% dehydrated). So as I sat in the waiting room I started talking to the woman next to me, telling her about this poor stray cat (who I had by now named "Bones Mallone"), and getting all choked up about it. She told me about her daughter-in-law, who took in feral cats, got them treated & taken care of, tries to tame them and find homes for them. She asked if I wanted her phone number, cuz she may have some suggestions for my poor cat's predicament. I wasn't too hopeful, but said sure. After she wrote down the number, she told me her daughter-in-law was right down the street, and she offered to call her and tell her that I would stop by then and there. I said sure. So she did, and I did, and this angel of a woman (Lisa) gave "Bones" a happy ending. She's keeping him forever! I was so happy for Bones, who would get all the care and love that he deserved, but I felt a bit guilty about not keeping him, after he and I had bonded those several days together. HER vet figured that Lincoln Bones is about 16 years old! She has a MySpace page, and we got to see pictures of him and read an update on how he's doing. (myspace.com/celoronferals). I'm thrilled for Bones and thankful to Lisa! The end
That's so beautiful and heartwarming!!! Thank you for sharing Bones story...I love good happy endings. We've taken in so many special cats throughout my life. They really do take a very special place in your heart. I see so many poor cats out there with no love...whether they have a home and food or not...some just don't even get the attention....it's sad...pets were meant to be loved and nurtured...not neglected and ignored.

One day, i was in kindergarten, i heard a big meow coming from outside the porch! i went out there and saw this gorgeous chubby black cat. My grandmother came out there also and said, "what jade? what happened?", i told her that i saw the cat that i just explained , and there she was right there! After a few minutes of talking with my grandmother, i heard a kitten meow! I looked in the corner of my grandmother's gorgeous garden and found kittens, only a few days old. We took them too a shelter.

Read my story:
I was coming back home when i saw a stray cat squeezing itself under my gate
It was quite weak and had sprained his ankle too
I took him in and next morning i tried to find him a home
he would follow me and not go into any of the other homes
I kept him and named him billoo.
but barely 6 months after adopting him he died in a car crash :(

I'm glad an older cat found a loving home to spend the rest of his days. Not many people will adopt an older animal.
