Alex: It makes the heart a flutter and comes in an instant. Men and women become weak from it. Kingdoms have been brought down by it and Tina Turner sang of it
Watson: What is Heart Disease?
Alex: Wrong
Ken: What is Love?
Alex: Correct
Watson: Love is an illogical human emotion which hinders the progress of man, in essence making humans illogical. Humanity is an imperfect species which must be remedied in order to obtain perfection...by any means necessary

Watson has been programmed* not to answer in certain situations, based on the scores and on how "sure" he is about his answer. *) Or maybe they also used machine learning to "train" him.

Why is it I get the feeling that the computer was holding back or being held back. It never answered wrong a single time. I wonder if the questions that it did not answer, it simple was not allowed to hear (communication line being blocked temporarily). This might be a thinking machine and the public is just not allowed to know the details.

I'm not here to start an argument, but if you read up on the program itself it does say it simply uses VERY complex algorithms to come up with a best answer from a set of information it already has been given, not from previous questions.

Umm... yeah. JF google it! I'd bet my beard the wikipedia article on jeopardy describes or links to the a description of the game. In Jeopardy, the question and answer are reversed from what's normal. The challenge, as I understand it, is to state a (non-trivial) question for which the answer given is correct. But IIRC I've never been told how the game works, but I think I figured it out by watching. I could be wrong, but 4 kicks I'm going to go ahead and post this w/o checking!
