Williams actually composed the main title of Star Wars in the same key as Newman's fanfare so it would appear to be an extension of the piece, because George Lucas loved that music so much. Williams conducted a recording of the fanfare for Star Wars, which was used in all those films. The version of the fanfare that you hear today was recorded by David Newman (Alfred Newman's son) in 1997.
@JessOnTheRun - "who is newman compared to John Williams"? The man who John Williams' got his first assignments from? The man who Williams started out working for? The man who won more Oscars than any other composer in history? The man who composed over 250 film scores in a forty year career? And above all, one of the three composers (which did not include Williams) who created film music ?
@JessOnTheRun I'm really serious i;m related to Newman and he's the best compared to everyone...even you you're just jealous and my friend knows williams granddaughter and apparently she never met him b/c she says that he doesn't like kids. and why on earth would i make something like that up if im not related to newman? now you shut up
@94puppyeyez pffft.... totally believable... that is the only thing that nitwit ever did... seriously... who is newman compared to John Williams... for that matter, who is newman to some whiny school girl clarinet player.....
John Williams conducted Alfred Newman's '20th Century-Fox Fanfare' [with the CinemaScope extension] for 'Star Wars'. He made no changes, according to him.
@avatarnarutochuck Ummmm I can't really say that but just trust me that I am.
