Here's the new headbox in action on my keene 10" sluice.

You can't see it in the video but there's 1/4" wire mesh over the gravel grate that classifies the material before going through the sluice.

  • @jlcanterbury It's a 5 horsepower briggs and stratton 4 stroke but it's 50 feet away and just on idle. We're just a few feet in height above the river so the pump doesn't have to work very hard. You can hear it putting away in the video if you turn up the sound a bit! :)

  • what kind of pump were you using? i don't hear any motor going but you have good flow...

It was just a rock. Any area will have it's share of interesting rocks or minerals, you just have to learn what to look for. Some of the coolest rocks/minerals out there won't be very interesting in their natural form but once you learn what to look for you can find treasures other than gold.

On this claim there's some interesting blue quartz chunks as well as small garnets.

A LOT of black sand as well which makes the fine gold recovery challenging.

  • what did he put in his hand at about 0 30 was it gold or rock ?

  • The reason my brother was 'high grading' was to collect cool rocks for his daughter.
