Yes, Starry Night allegedly is the best out there (but then, would they claim anything else?) :) I can do the same, from any vantage point desired. One very cool animation I have on my channel shows a famous total solar eclipse seen right over Babylon, some time in the 2nd century B.C. The fact one can do this shows that the program corrects for historical changes in the earth's rotation (which solar eclipse records enable us to do). So does Celestia and other programs.

That's OK. With the Celestia program you can look at any eclipse you know the date for - back through history, to see what might have been seen where. I'm sure the program you mentioned is very good also.
