  • Every single version that I have heard of this piece, viz. Horowitz, Rubenstein, Kissin, Lang-Lang, etc., they all sound the same; this Gentleman, Mr. Messulam, at least to my ears, those of a non-musician/player or writier of music, but as an admirer of such, seems as though he is striking the Keys without so much of the superficial /glaze/ that so many performers have; it simply seems that this Gentleman is performering as if he has /discarded/ all notions except those of the composer.

  • @johnnyztells Thank you very much indeed!

  • This is ridiculous. How can you even call this Beethoven's Appassionata if you throw out everything that he meant to be in this piece?

  • Could this be Narcisisstic Personality Disorder manifested in a musician? Whatever disorder it is this is obviously mentally ill.

  • 12:18 FLAWLESS FINISH!

  • @99Grigor then it is not Gould.

  • LOL @12:16

  • @MrFortepianist I said the same thing...sarcastically

  • @MrFortepianist richters appasionata is the best though

  • I think that he shouldn't play every music in adagio. It sometimes make the tune strange. But everyone has their STYLE!!

  • I am sorry -- I do not mean to be disrespectful or rude -- but this is simply grotesque. There is no concept of the music here, nor any respect for Beethoven's markings. On top of that, it is very sloppy playing.

  • This sounds like Glenn Gould without the genius.
