This is part three of the historic "Storm of the Century" or "Blizzard of 1993" in Alabama.
These clips are in chronological order. This one begins at 12 a.m. on March 13, 1993 and ends just before 1 a.m. Notice how the power is flickering at the station during the past few minutes of the clip.
The blizzard was really cranking up in Birmingham by this time. Spann reported 6-8" on the ground and winds gusted to 51 mph on Red Mountain at approximately 12:50.

@BRENT69696 No, actually, this was during ENSO neutral conditions. There was no el nino or la nina during this.

At the time of this telecast, WBRC was affiliated with the American Broadcasting Company, and they remained affiliated with ABC until 1996. After that, they became affiliated with FOX, and they are still affiliated with FOX to this day.

@crkt75 My power went out Sat. evening around 5pm. I had just finished cooking a huge pot of spaghetti. Something told me to hurry up and cook. It was out until Monday, but luckily we had a wood burning fireplace in a room where we could shut the doors off. That thunder snow was wild, wasn't it?

@BRENT69696 Yeah it was. I do wonder what our winter holds this year, especially with these colder than avg. temps? I love James Spann. I am in Ga, so I can't watch him daily. I do watch him when he goes live un ustream during bad weather, and chat in the chat room. : )

It sure is hard to believe its been that long I agree. That storm was amazing. James was right, probably won't ever see another one like that. I remember our power went out about 8pm or so that friday night and didn't come on until the next tuesday.
