  • WOTW...Edinburgh band although I think they went to London where they got a record deal with Middle Earth records. The skull photo above is the cover of the album they brought out, again I think this was in 1969 or their abouts. The title of the album which you can still purchase well in cd form.

I hadn't heard this song (Buffalo) before and it makes me think its not Linnie Paterson that is singing it.Get yourself the cd Power of the Picts.

  • 'Buffalo' was a single recorded for Pye records. The very edited version appears on at least one Folk compelation album, but this full version is on the re-issue of "Power of the Picts". :)

  • Hey Silver, any idea where this band originated from in Scotland? A friend of mine told me to look up a Scottish band called writing on the wall, from roughly this period. But people being people, more popular music has polluted the pages of youtube, and only one diamond could be found. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Jamie.

  • fabuleux disque , liberté musicale totale .

  • I love it!

  • Originally named "The Jury",. the band was formed in Penicuik, Scotland (1966). Moved to Edinburgh, changing their name in 1968 to Writing on the Wall

  • Man I dig this band and the mellotron!

  • @corm1000 The song is Buffalo . the name of the band is "Writing on the Wall."

  • I thought buffalo was an aussi band.

  • Nah, can't be a Mk 2, has to be a M-400...the transition is more of a gradual switch instead of a pushbutton engage, and besides...the Mk 2 strings are a bit more icey.

  • Cool you can hear the Mellotron flip from strings to flute...sheesh, if this was 1969, it must have been a Mark II.

  • I put their LP right up there in the Top 10 UK heavy prog/psych items. This little nugget belongs on it!

  • Can someone tell me where to locate this track on LP or CD? It is a beaut, longtime WOTW fan, not aware of this song!
