  • first off, i totally see that fuzzy poster on your wall between all the pictures. i think it's great to use coloring as a creative outlet...

as far as the name thing goes: the first step im taking in my transition is to change my name so i will pay attention to whether or not people are put off or confused by the fact that i am female bodied [for now] yet decidedly male named. do some research on Numerology of your given name, as well as your chosen name. May you be enlightened and blessed!

  • I've never met her before but I think I've seen her on geocaching. Also, I wouldn't expect you to call me by male pronouns nor would I expect it. Pronouns in general just annoy me, but I don't mind female pronouns- It's what I most often refer to myself in.

  • Loved the Santa intro. I think I did consider Dylan to be a gender-neutral name, despite knowing mostly male Dylans. (As a teacher, I have met a LOT of people and a LOT of names.) I always use female pronouns with you, but I think it might be sort of because I am very atypical female, despite my raging heterosexuality. (as we have discussed before) You know the geocacher airsax, right? Have you two ever talked? Gay and very masculine, born female, name is Chris. She loves the ambiguity too.

  • It was a rocky time. In my mind, what helped facilitate the change was David. David came into things rather neutral so it wasn't really a shift for him and he wasn't hesitant, and then things fell into place.

  • I didn't realize it took us that long to start calling you Dylan. I think we weren't sure if you'd be comfortable with us calling you Dylan, or if it was something you just wanted Karen to call you. I do remember at one point, Karen approaching us and letting us know what your feelings were about your name, once she did that, I feel like we did a good job switching.

  • It's cool, I just want to make sure you're comfortable. Hehe, I just googled it and it looks like "Santa" is mostly used as a girl name (ends in "a" so the word itself is gendered feminine in Italian), but can be gender neutral since Santa Claus uses it =:-D

  • I never did talk about pronouns, it's something that's confusing to me that I'm working through. My general rule is not to discuss them and be called whatever I am called. I think that since you asked and I am thinking about it, please continue using male pronouns until I figure it out, at which point I'll say something. Hope my comment didn't sound like I was annoyed with anyone, I was just trying to state the facts :-) P.S. Is "Santa" a gender neutral name?

  • Hmm that's interesting. I guess i thought Dylan was more of a male name than a gender-neutral one, so i just automatically started using male pronouns. i don't recall you explicitly covered pronouns in your week 2 video. Anyway, if you prefer something other than male pronouns, i'd be happy to change that. Just let me know. Good luck with the legal name change and the Santa thing was great =:-)

  • Haha. Santa. Awesome. Thanks for all you shared Dylan.

  • Thanks. It's nice to have a lighter head.
